The ExoHead functions as an additional set of muscles that complements the user's muscles in raising the arms from the front to overhead positions. Its components, which include elastomers (elastic bands) and support structures, act as artificial muscles: they expand when the arms are raised and return to their original shape when the arms are lowered, transferring energy into each movement. This reduces muscle load and facilitates efficient movements.

The device adapts naturally to the user's movements, relieving stress on the back, shoulders and arms without the need for motors or batteries.
